What a great event we held yesterday, I must start off by thanking Craig Parsons and all his helpers including the Marshals for a well organized and thoroughly enjoyable day.
The day started off with a few incidents of lost number plates and dirtied vehicles in the mud pool as you entered De Grendel.
The gates were setup on Friday by Craig , Russell and Louis, thereafter the Marshals were briefed on the rules and regulations for the next day.
Saturday morning was a bit cold and threatened to rain a few times but thankfully it held off and there were even a few red faces by the end of the event, not sure if this was due to sunburn or embarrassment.
Yes the course was a great leveler and quite a few egos were dented but at the end of the day everybody enjoyed themselves and it was all in good spirit.
The results are as below:
Standard Class
1st Place - Milton Fisher - Isuzu won a nice pair of leather gloves - please make arrangements to collect
2nd Place- Richard Randall - Hyundai Terracan won a braai tripod - please make arrangements to collect
3rd Place- Mari Ware-Lane - Kia Sportage - won braai tongs
Modified Class
1st place - Hugo De Wet - Colt- won a set of heavy duty shackles
2nd Place - Cecil Mathee - Colt - Cecil last drove a 4x4 6 months ago which makes this even more special- won a tire gauge
3rd Place - Jan Smith - Toyota Hilux - Won a set of cigarette adapters.
Floating Trophy for the Best Driver on the day went to Mari who had 4 gates clear out of 8, a remarkable achievement after starting badly .
Grumpiest Marshall of the Day went to Kevin Harris , but it was good fun.
Best Marshall of the Day as voted by the drivers went to Marius Van Der Westhuizen.
Thanks to Craig and his Company for sponsering the prizes.
We ended the day off at the Multi Motor Club with a braai, prize giving and impromptu singing session.
Thanks once again to everyone who made the day a great success and we look forward to the next one which will be in two months time so start practicing.
